One of Australia's oldest hotelsBushranger William Westwood was captured and locked up in the Pub in 1840. Jackie Jackie, the "The Gentleman Bushranger" was also locked up in the hotel at one stage. |

Both bushrangers apparently enjoyed their stay and would have rather stayed there at the Harps pleasure than at Her Majesty's pleasure in a less pleasant place The Railway came through in 1885 to bring visitors to enjoy boating, hunting and fishing on Lake George and the so Pub changed it's name to The Lake George in 1886. Another name change saw it called "Chinnerys" early in the century. |
